▌Consensys sues SEC for attempting to classify ETH as a security
According to cryptounfolded on X platform, Consensys has sued the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), alleging that it is attempting to classify ETH as a security.
On Thursday, ConsenSys said that it has filed a lawsuit with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over regulatory issues related to the Ethereum blockchain. Regulation in the industry has become a contentious issue, with companies including Coinbase claiming that the SEC has no jurisdiction, arguing that cryptocurrencies are not securities. ConsenSys claims in the lawsuit that US market regulator has been "illegally regulating Ethereum" by attempting to take targeted enforcement actions against ConsenSys and other companies. It is seeking court confirmation that the SEC has no legal authority to regulate user-controlled software interfaces built on Ethereum or the Ethereum blockchain.
▌Stripe restarts accepting cryptocurrency payments after six years
Financial technology giant Stripe announced that it will be re-entering the cryptocurrency market, allowing its customers to accept cryptocurrency payments, initially supporting the USDC stablecoin and only on Solana, Ethereum, and Polygon. It is reported that this is Stripe's first time accepting cryptocurrency payments since 2018, when the company abandoned support for cryptocurrency payments due to high bitcoin price fluctuations.

▌FBI warns Americans not to use unregistered cryptocurrency transfer services
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said on Thursday that Americans should not use cryptocurrency services provided by companies that are not registered as Money Services Businesses (MSBs) under federal law. The FBI also provided FinCEN's official tool for users to check whether a company is registered as an MSB or not.
▌The SEC issued a Wells notice to Consensys earlier this month
According to The Block Pro Headlines on the X platform, "The SEC issued a Wells notice to Consensys accusing MetaMask of operating as an unlicensed broker-dealer." Consensys said that "the SEC has classified ETH as a security and has 'set its sights' on the company's Metamask software. SEC staff notified ConsenSys earlier this month by Wells Notice."
