The data tool, Dune, on the chain, shows that, in addition to the bitcoins seized, between November 2020 and 2022, the U.S. Government seized more than 200,000 bitcoins from cybercriminals, the black market, and that these BTCs are currently stored mainly in encrypted, password-protected cold wallets controlled by the U.S. Department of Justice, the IRS or other agencies.
