If the Proxy server you are using requires a username/ password to authenticate, and you do not have the Proxy server password overwrite while running the WSUS server configuration, the WSUS server may not be able to process updates in a synchronized manner. Since the configuration wizard will start automatically after the configuration is over, this problem may cause a synchronization error when you upgrade from the old WSUS to WSUS 3.0.

While WSUS 3.0 may still be running on a terminal service server, we do not support or recommend doing so. WSUS 3.0 cannot be executed on a server set to do terminal service using a remote SQL Server. The installation of all remote custom actions (including installation) will be performed as a system account, and the server's system account may not necessarily have access to a remote SQL Server and may cause installation failure.

Microsoft Windows Server Office Services 3.0 must match Internet Information Services (IIS), but this service has not been pre-installed on Microsoft Windows Server? 2003 or Windows Server? 2008. If you try to install a WSUS 3.0, Windows Server Services Installer without IIS, you will display a bug message, indicating that IIS has not been installed.

If you have upgraded the server from Windows?2000? Server to Windows Server? 2003, IIS may be able to run in IIS 5.0 compatibility mode. You may also be able to enable IIS 5.0 isolation mode in the IIS administrator. This will cause installation failure. You must deactivate IIS 5.0 isolation mode before installing WSUS 3.0.

The Proxy server must support both HTTP and HTTPS when you configure the root WSUS server (which is a newer WSUS server directly from Microsoft Update) and when there is a Proxy server between the WSUS server and the Internet.

The installation of WSUS 3.0 may require the discontinuation of the anti-toxic program before it can be installed properly. When the anti-toxic program is discontinued, restart the computer and then start installing the WSUS. Restarting the computer allows the installation program to access the required files without locking it. However, when the installation is complete, it is necessary to restart the anti-toxic program. If you need to know how to deactivate and re-activate the accurate step of the anti-toxic program and version, visit the website of the drug program manufacturer.

If you want to use the SQL Server database as a Windows Server Update Services data repository, the SQL Server system manager should verify that the server has activated the nesting application option before the WSUS 3.0 system manager installs WSUS 3.0 and assigns the library during the installation period.

If your server does not have SQL Server Management Studio, the SQL command code can be executed from the command line. You can get the Microsoft Download Centre () to start the public application.

WSUS 3.0 supports one computer running the database software while another computer running the rest of the WSUS 3.0 application. To install a remote SQL, some requirements must be met.

There may be an efficiency problem if you use a narrow channel WAN connection to manage the remote handle to the WSUS 3.0 server. You can select the update and computer view to limit the number of updates and computers you see, but you are advised to use the broadband connection between the remote manager and the WSUS 3.0 server. If there is an efficiency problem with the remote handle, we suggest that you use the terminal server to connect to the server for remote management.

If the computer has not installed all pre-conditions, i.e. installed WSUS 3.0 in quiet mode (/q), the installation program will generate the WSUSPreqCheck.xml file under the %TEMP% directory.

The WSUS 3.0 installation will reboot the IIS without warning, so your organization’s existing website may be affected. If IIS is not executed, the WSUS 3.0 installation will activate it.

From the current installation upgrade to WSUS 3.0, if the connection to the current WSUS database is still open (for example, SQL Server Management Studio is still open), it may cause the installation to fail. Disable all connections before re-installation WSUS 3.0.

In WSUS installation, the parent folder of the database is misreported as the location of the database. For example, the default location is %systemdrive%\WSUS\UpdateServicesDbFiles, but this location is shown as %systemdrive%\WSUS.

If your machine has a multilingual user interface package and the default language is not English, you will still be able to install WSUS when the current user's location is set to be English. UI will be displayed in English, but you will have to use the response to [indicate] to be displayed in English. Copy the.chm file (WSUSInstallDir \documentation\mui\0409\WSUS30Help.chm) to the main description directory (WSUSInstallDir\documentation\WS30Help.chm).
從 WSUS 3.0 RC 升級至 WSUS 3.0 RTM 時，會造成 SSL 憑證未指派給 WSUS 網站

The WSUS website will be deleted and recreated during the WSUS 3.0 RC upgrade to WSUS 3.0 RTM. Therefore, the SSL certificate is no longer assigned to the WSUS website. You must reassign the certificate after the upgrade.

If your upgrade from WSUS 2.0 to WSUS 3.0 fails, you will have to install WSUS 2.0 and restore the original database from backup.
