On 1 March, according to the United States finance website CNBC, the Wall Street expert and founder of Fundstrat, Tom Lee, stated that the price of Bitcoin was expected to double by mid-year to US$ 20,000 (healing US$ 130,000); by the end of the year, the price of Bitcoin could hit US$ 25,000 (approximately US$ 160,000).

Lee also noted that the low point in bitcoin prices usually occurred during the first two months of the year. This has been the case for six of the past seven years.
